Day #303 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m thankful that Grams found our old Bop It toy, and that it still works!
While I was working, Grams was going through one of her closets, looking for some duffel bags to use for our trip. I didn’t know about this until later this evening, after we returned home from her hair appointment. She told me that she found our old original Bop It toy (the one that’s just “pull it, twist it, bop it”), which was inside one of the bags. I thought we either threw it out or donated it, along with the original Bop It Extreme that we used to own (with the added “flick it, spin it” settings). I lit up like a little kid on Christmas because it unlocked so many childhood memories, going back to the year 2000, when my kid brother and I, along with our friends, had played hardcore with these two toys.
First of all, I’m absolutely mind-blown that this toy is 25 years old. Second, the battery compartment is starting to corrode, but the toy still works like a charm. The kid in me came out to play this evening! Even a few giggles passed my lips as I was filled with that childlike joy that I couldn’t contain. I am so totally bringing this Bop It toy with me on vacation to share the fun with the rest of our family in Michigan!
