Day #294 in A Year of Positivity

A Few Psychology Tricks That Will Change Your Life if You Use Them

  1. The “2-Minute Scam.” Remember when I mentioned in a previous post about doing things for only 2 minutes, especially when procrastination is at play? This is an excellent opportunity to use this method. You tell yourself, “I’ll only do it for 2 minutes.” Apparently, our brains hate starting things, but love to keep at it. After about 2 minutes, the resistance should be gone, and you can continue what you’re doing.
  2. The Mirror Code. This trick involves standing in front of the mirror and saying out loud, “I can do it, period.” Our brains will listen to our own voices as if they were a person we trusted.
  3. The Dopamine Detox. Can’t stop scrolling TikTok, grabbing snacks, etc.? Sit down for at least half an hour and do absolutely nothing. By doing this, our brains become restless and search for productive activities, such as cleaning, learning, or discovering something new and creative to do.
  4. The Fear-Killer Question. Instead of, “Why am I afraid?”, ask, “What would I do if I were brave?” When we do this, our brains will stop doubting, and we will want to act.
