Day #217 in A Year of Positivity

“Never make big decisions when you’re H.A.L.T.—Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired.”—Unknown

I can’t figure out who came up with this quote, but it’s undoubtedly a little gold nugget of wisdom. It’s easy to make a huge mistake when we make a critical decision while we’re in a state of hunger, anger, loneliness, or even when we’re exhausted. These emotions can leave us vulnerable, and we may regret the decisions we make in these moments where we’re feeling so raw. I know I’ve made plenty of mistakes and regretted the decisions I made during periods of loneliness or exhaustion. Things seem to go better and a lot smoother when I make the big choices after I’m in a stronger mental state that isn’t revolved around the emotions mentioned above. So, the next time there’s a significant decision that needs to be made, stop and think. Are you feeling hungry, angry, lonely, or tired? If so, then wait until you’ve tackled those emotions first, and when you’re in a stronger mental state, tackle the decision with clarity and vision.
