Day #190 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m thankful for a few writer groups I’m a part of online.
Earlier today, I removed the Instagram and Snapchat apps from my phone, and I also considered deleting the Facebook app. However, I changed my mind. Later, I went on Facebook to see what was happening in my News Feed, and the first thing that popped up was a post from a writer’s group I’m a part of, featuring writers from around the world. It was so comical. I was grinning hard and literally laughing out loud.
Not only was the post hilarious, and something only a fellow writer could understand and relate to, but so was pretty much every writer who commented on it. Then I realized something. Here was a group of thousands of people who barely knew anything about each other. Yet, we can set aside our cultural and political differences and come together by sharing our love and passion for writing, help each other out by giving each other inside knowledge and tips on the industry, or providing writing feedback, vent in our writing frustrations, share our joys and successes, or simply come up with jokes and creative puns to brighten each other’s days. It makes me smile. I love that these writing communities on Facebook exist.
