Day #15 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m thankful for Matthew 11:28-30, “Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you. Let Me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.'”
The Book of Matthew is one of my favorite books in the Bible, so of course, I would pull a lovely favorite from it. My heart is heavy tonight with a burden I don’t wish to overwhelm anyone else with, though this scripture verse couldn’t be more perfect for me. It’s a wonderful reminder of Jesus’s humbleness and tender heart. He knows what’s in my heart and knows all my thoughts. When I call upon His name and give Him all my burdens before bed, He responds with love and gentleness, and I feel at peace the next day, sometimes in the moments following my prayers. He’s also incredible with giving me rest when my soul is just plain exhausted. I can’t do life without Jesus. He’s the one who sees me.
